facebook-sharing

Facebook revamped its design for sharing content off other websites as the company pushes users to actively distribute links and videos through the social network. The update is a slight improvement over the older one: the design is cleaner and gives more space to the content you’re sharing.

Similar to composing a private Facebook message, the sharing window incorporates a thumbnail of the content and prompts you to add a comment. It’s still a tad slow and sometimes pulls up an inaccurate snapshot.

Nevertheless, Facebook has sharing options others do not. You can share an item privately with a few friends or open it up to your entire network. Facebook is trying to ramp up sharing to make its advertising network richer and to collect as much data as possible to build out its new search functionality. Users already share more than 1 billion pieces of content a week on the site.
