Crowd Fusion, the web publishing startup from Weblogs co-creator Brian Alvey that’s been in stealth mode, demonstrated its suite of publishing tools on-stage at the TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco today.
There are a lot of pieces to the Crowd Fusion platform (to be honest I had trouble keeping track of all the moving parts in Alvey’s demo), but the concept behind Crowd Fusion is that it’s a single tool for blogs, wikis, and collaboration. It’s easy to write posts, then use content in that post to update articles in a related database. To see what a Crowd Fusion site looks like to readers, you can check out at Obsessable, a tech news web site and database that the company created as a showcase for its technology.
Alvey describes Crowd Fusion as “the last [content management system] you’ll ever use.” It’s an open source project (though the company will charge for other products and services later), and it just opened its beta test.
