TwitVid.com launched a mobile app today for quick video tweets and uploads, capitalizing on iPhone 3GS’ new video capabilities.
The TwitVid app lets you record a video, write a tweet and then post it to your Twitter account. It comes out less than a month after Apple released its latest version of the iPhone, equipped with new video functionality.
Last month, we reported that TwitVid was partnering with TwitterFon to do exactly the same thing, but it seems natural for the company to jump in directly with its own app.
Other startups are betting that personal video publishing will explode on the back of increasingly powerful video capabilities from smartphones. A week ago, competitor Qik.com announced it had raised $5.5 million from Quest Venture Partners and CampVentures.
TwitVid.com comes from EatLime, Inc., a company founded last year by Waterloo University students Mo Adham and Adil Lalan i. It’s backed with money from venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson and a group of angel investors, Amidzad, former Google employees Georges Harik and Aydin Senkut, as well as XG Ventures, another group of former Googlers.
