Earlier, we posted about Twitter chief executive Evan Williams explaining Twitter to Charlie Rose. But tonight brought perhaps a better Twitter video explanation, compliments of comedian Jon Stewart.

In his Daily Show segment “Old Man Stewart Shakes His Fist At _____,” Stewart starts out with: “For the uninitiated, here’s how Twitter works — I have no f***ing idea.” He goes on, “I have no idea how it works — or why it is.” That reminds me of a conversation I recently had with my mother about it.

Says Daily Show tech correspondent Samantha Bee, “It’s no wonder young people love it, according to reports about young people by middle-aged people.”

The rest of the segment focuses on members of Congress using the service. It’s hilarious stuff, check it out below. I need to try Grunter (watch the video).

Update: YouTube was forced to take down the clip by Viacom (because publicity is bad remember) — so I added the Daily Show embed, which has a much more annoying embedded player, my apologies.
