Motricity, mobile content co., lays off 50 people, despite strong mobile trend

Motricity, of Durham, N.C., which develops mobile content such as games and ring tones for mobile phones, will eliminate 50 jobs as part of a restructuring plan, the company announced in a statement.
Here is some local coverage. The company has raised more than $160 million in venture capital from firms like Advanced Equities, Intel Capital, NEA, Noro-Moseley, TCV and Wakefield Group.
The firm now has 425 employees and contractors spread across four locations, including Munich and London.
