New hairstyle at Valleywag

picture-13.pngValleywag has offended quite a few in Silicon Valley. We know some who refuse to read it. However, we have to admit, it has become the Daily Show of the tech blogosphere — featuring more jokes than most other tech blogs, but with its own breaking news and original analysis (at least when it feels like it).

Incoming editor Owen Thomas has a distinguished journalism career stretching at least as far back as Suck.com — a site that got this author to goof off making imitative works during high school English class. Outgoing editor/blog mogul Nick Denton did well for himself by stealing such Tintin-like charm, not to mention top-blog traffic, from Business 2.0. You can see Owen’s first official post here (where we took the above picture from).

We also hope that founding editor Nick Douglas will continue posting, and that neighbor Megan McCarthy won’t break too many stories over our heads while crashing parties.

About the Author, Eric Eldon

Eric currently covers digital media technology and business news, especially what's happening on social networks and their platforms. He also writes and edits stories about venture capital, and lots of other stuff, too. He started at VentureBeat in the spring of 2007, half a year or so after Matt Marshall left his reporting job at the San Jose Mercury News to found the site. Eric previously cofounded a startup called Writewith, that was building editorial software for newspapers and other groups of writers. The startup didn't work out, but he learned a lot.
