Mark Logic secures $15M for XML content server

Mark Logic, a San Mateo, Calif. company that sells a XML content server, said it has raised $15 million in a third-round financing, led by existing investors Sequoia Capital and Lehman Brothers.

XML stands for Extensible Markup Language, a language that allows users to share data across different information systems, particularly the Web.

Mark Logic seeks to let publishers integrate content from different sources, letting them repurpose the content into multiple products online.

The company has now raised a total of $33 million, and counts the U.S. Army, the New England Journal of Medicine and Thompson Corp. among its customers.
