Google’s feast continues — gobbles ImageAmerica, imaging company

imageamerica.jpgGoogle has acquired ImageAmerica, a Clayton, Missouri company that builds high-resolution cameras for the collection of aerial imagery, for an undisclosed amount. See its statement.

Google has already used ImageAmerica for its maps and Google Earth, pulling in high resolution black and white imagery of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

This is Google’s seventh acquisition in the past two months, following Feedburner, GrandCentral, Panoramio, PeakStream, Postini and Zenter.

Google said it is researching how to incorporate this imagery in Google Maps or Earth. If you can already see — in some cases, at least — topless sunbathers, Chinese submarines, and peoples’ cats in windows. We’re wondering what this will will bring us.
