Aptilo Networks acquires municipal wireless firm Airpath Wireless
Airpath Wireless is one of a handful of companies in the United States that focuses on municipal broadband wireless. The company both deploys and manages city-wide wireless networks, and offers tools to monetize the service if desired.
Aptilo, which manages both standard wireless and WiMAX networks, plans on using the acquisition to strengthen its overseas presence. The company is based in Stockholm, Sweden, while Airpath has officed in Woburn, Mass. and Toledo, Ohio.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Airpath was funded by Boston Millenia Partners, an area private equity firm.
