helio logoAs first reported by us last week, Helio is undergoing a series of layoffs from the top down.

Three executives are leaving the company and a lot of the marketing department is expected to be eliminated according to a source.

The layoffs, expected to be completed by the end of the month, are said to be part of an effort to streamline business and make the company more efficient. More layoffs are likely to happen down the road depending on performance.

These layoffs are the latest in a string of bad news for the MVNO market which just last week saw the high-end service Voce end abruptly, joining Amp’d Mobile as well as offerings from ESPN and Disney that have all gone out of business.

We have confirmed these layoffs, and Helio is not denying it.
