DEMO startups launch Monday — here’s a list of companies

The late-summer drought in tech news has already started to lift, but the real flood is coming Monday, as a bunch of startups launch new products at the DEMOfall conference and at TechCrunch 50. Impressive companies have made their starts at both conferences, and VentureBeat will have writers at both events, banging out stories on the coolest companies as they demo.

All of the announcements are under wraps for now, but DEMO (which is a VentureBeat sponsor) has released a list of the presenters. Most of the company websites I checked out are pretty cryptic, but think of this as a sneak peek at everything you’re going to read about next week. Also, if you’re a venture capitalist and a company seems particularly exciting to you, it may be worth reaching out before the post-conference rush — after all, once they launch at DEMO, VCs have already missed the best window for early investors.

Okay, I’m just kidding. You’re probably too late already.

Here’s the list of companies, after the jump:

Old products reinvented with new technology

Internet video/television

Digital content creation/sharing

Security

Social networking

Enterprise

“Next web” applications

Mobile

Collaboration

  • would have been nice of you had also posted a one liner about the company main product / service. The readers could have visited the site of interest
  • I agree, but we just wanted to get the list up, and this is what was available on the DEMO site. Also, a lot of the information about the companies is under embargo until tomorrow morning. You'll be hearing more about them soon.

Give us the scoop. Last year VentureBeat, RRW, and GigaOm were TC partners, but this year TC is on its own. What happened?

Arrington didn't even link to Om's exclusive on Joost yesterday, he linked to techmeme, which linked to Om.

    Spill it!

Simon, we're not taking sides. DEMO chose to advertise its event on our site, and Anthony was just disclosing that fact. TechCrunch is a start-up, and most likely doesn't have the resources to advertise on VentureBeat. That really has no impact on us, as advertising is kept separate from editorial coverage. That's why we're covering both conferences equally.

We'll continue to partner with TechCrunch where appropriate. You're right, we were partners of TC during the Crunchies, and we've talked about partnering on that again. No changes.
