VentureBeat’s new reporter — the 100-word version

Hi. I’m VentureBeat’s newest reporter. I cover Apple and the iPhone, plus digital music and video. I share social networks coverage with Eric Eldon.

Yes, the iPhone is a whole news category now. I’m sure Twitter is next.

Most people know me for my New York Times blog on social networks. I still do that, plus an occasional feature for the newspaper. Before the Times, I wrote and edited for Valleywag. That was the most fun ever. I should mention Wired, Slate, and the Industry Standard, but you’re bored already.

Send me — paul@venturebeat.com – your news tips, rumors, and super-secret embargoed pre-briefings. I’ll do my best to report them three hours ahead of everyone else.

  • Nice to see new people here! that's great. I hope you will also be covering Android when it takes off.
  • Welcome Paul! Look forward to reading your iPhone coverage.

By the way, Arrington set a new record by breaking an embargo 14 days early yesterday, so 3 hours may not cut it (LOL)

Oh yawn, TechCrunch. Nice guys. I read them every day. They hate that.
  • a big welcome paul glad to see a new but familiar face (name) at Venturebeat!
  • At least you didnt go to techcrunch, this rag is half way decent. Valleywag is still my own personal "Sillicon Valley Daily Show". Nice grab, venturebeat.
  • Welcome aboard, Paul! Wise choice on your part...helluva team there. :)

Thanks. It's a team of business reporters like Dean who will teach me a lot. And because the New York Times syndicates VentureBeat stories in their technology section (nytimes.com/technology), my two outlets fit together well. It's cool to have a Times story and a VB story on the same page.
