There are a billion ways to share photos online, and even to gather all the photos taken at special events in one place. But more and more people are taking photos on their smartphones, and now Clixtr has created an iPhone app that offers similar features for iPhone photos. The company launched today at the TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco.

Clixtr app users can create profiles for their special events, whether they be parties, conferences, etc. Then, whenever anyone uploads a photo, Clixtr taps into the iPhone’s GPS feature to determine which event the photo was taken at. That eliminates the hassle of tagging, and users can go to an event profile page to see all the related photos in real-time.

The Clixtr app costs $2.99 in the Apple App Store. The conference judges expressed some concerns about whether Clixtr could achieve critical mass so there would be enough users posting photos to make the site fun. Still, if Clixtr can successfully recruit most of the techie audience at TC50, that would be a good start.
