Show off those Twitter curation skills with the Lists widget

Picture 23In a very natural extension of the Lists feature Twitter finally rolled out last week, the company added a widget which lets you embed tweets from an entire list.

Why might this be useful? If you’re a business owner, you might want to show off public conversations from your team or employees. Or maybe you’d want to play up your curation skills by promoting a list you’ve created around food or gaming, for example. The list I’ve embedded in the story shows tweets from VentureBeat’s team.

The new widget is pretty easy to create. You just enter in the name of the list and adjust the title, colors and size here. You don’t have to be the owner of the list to make a widget around it.

The new widget plays off others Twitter has released. There are widgets that can show off your own Twitter stream, your favorite tweets or conversations around a specific subject (which builds off Twitter’s search engine).

  • wow thats really amazing ...... thanks for sharing.
  • Pretty nice, I wish I could remove @replies though.
  • I like your ideas for application of the Twitter List widget, but there is still the issue of manually creating a good list of people. I'm still sold on TipTop Search widgets http://feeltiptop.com/widget_help_screen.html which can embed results around message sentiment, topic, and best messages/posters at a particular time. TipTop's twitter search results generate a dynamic social network around whatever you are looking when you need it. Try it out at http://feeltiptop.com :)
