Steve Jobs offstage: Nerdier, more defensive (video)

Watch the video clip below from 1:40 to 3:40. AllThingsD editors Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher recorded their trip to Apple’s iPad launch event Wednesday. It includes a two-minute talk between Mossberg and Jobs after the big reveal.

It’s fascinating to see Steve offstage. When he’s on, he’s got a rock star’s command of the room. Offstage, his voice is higher. He speaks more rapidly. And in this conversation, Mossberg is clearly in charge. Steve actually gets defensive about the battery life of the tablet for reading. “You’ll end up plugging it in,” he finally concludes.
