ComScore’s Chief Product Officer Eric Bosco made two announcements today that will help it to better serve startups. It’s making site tagging free for all websites and offering free access to its dashboard for some startups.
The tagging news, which Bosco announced at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in New York, means that any website can now be tracked with its particular special sauce of traffic analysis. Bosco boasted that comScore’s site tagging was much faster than its competitors’, so startup companies and other site owners shouldn’t have to worry about it slowing down their sites.
As part of the company’s “Start-up, step-up” initiative, it will be making access to its dashboard free for startups with less than a million monthly unique visitors. The dashboard will allow sites to see exactly where its visitors are coming from, among other information. For startups with 1 to 2 million monthly unique views, dashboard access will be $799 a month. Both groups can get access to comScore’s Media Metrix Suite at a 50 percent discount.
The company has been under pressure to make its services more accessible for some time, but Bosco argued that it needed to spend some time building up its service to make sure it could scale to many more sites.
