CustomMade, a site where visitors can connect with woodworkers and other custom goods-makers, announced today that it has raised just under $1.2 million in an angel round of funding.

The site was built by a woodworker as a place where the creators of custom wood furniture could have a presence on the Web. It includes a profile, a gallery of past work, and a way for visitors to contact them. It isn't a site where you can buy ready-made products, as CustomMade President Michael Salguero explained to VentureBeat earlier this year -- the whole point is that you should work directly with the craftsperson to specify what kind of product you want.

Salguero and Chief Financial Officer Seth Rosen bought the site in 2009. Since then, has expanded to include metalworkers, glass makers, and home remodelers. Artisans pay to be listed on CustomMade, and their numbers have grown from 350 a year ago to more than 1,200 today.

The funding comes from three angel investors in Boston, where CustomMade is based.
