Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, and if you’re looking for a cute and Earth-saving way to show your special someone how much you care, we’ve got you covered*. Kaitlyn Trigger, girlfriend of Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger, created Lovestagram, a simple Valentine creator that uses your Instagram photos.

Trigger built the app as a Valentine’s present to Krieger and has opened it up for everyone to use. She taught herself how to code and learned Python, Django, Jinja, HTML, CSS, jQuery, and Photoshop to build the app. As she said in an email to VentureBeat, “learning to code isn’t so hard when you’re in love.”

To create your Valentine, go to the Lovestagram site, sign in with your Instagram account, choose a photo, and share it with your lover/fellow Instagramer. I created one of my special someone, my dog Sadie (pictured left).

*Disclaimer: If a Lovestagram is the only gift you give your significant other this Valentine’s Day, you may end up in the doghouse.

VentureBeat’s VB Insight team is studying email marketing tools. Chime in here, and we’ll share the results.
