Airtime is the name of Sean Parker’s latest startup, a live social video company. The company is launching June 5 and has already raised $8.3 million from top-shelf Silicon Valley investors.
And with that, we’ve told you just about everything we or anyone else knows about the whole situation. However, we will be at the startup’s launch event in a month, so stay tuned for more details soon.
Airtime is a collaboration between Parker and his Napster co-founder Shawn Fanning. A few months ago, when pressed for information about the new project, Parker said, “We can’t talk about what the product does or will do.”
Parker did say at last year’s Web 2.0 Summit, “It’s so annoying that even on-demand TV is so screwed up.” Still, that statement wasn’t specifically linked to Parker’s work on Airtime.

Recently, Parker had also been spending a lot of time in Stockholm, where he had been working closely with the Spotify team. As an investor via Founders’ Fund, Parker also brought his previous expertise in digital music to the startup’s board.
