Apple’s Jony Ive buys $17M San Francisco house

It looks like beloved Apple design exec Jony Ive won’t be departing San Francisco after all.

Ive has plunked down $17 million for a home in the Gold Coast section of Pacific Heights, one of San Francisco’s most exclusive neighborhoods, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The five-floor, 7,274-square-foot house features six bedrooms, eight-and-half bathrooms, and a half-dozen fireplaces. The Journal reports that the home was actually listed for $25 million, meaning that Ive got a bit of a deal on the buy.

While Ive’s design sensibilities are what likely attracted him to the house’s interior, it doesn’t take the designer of the iPad to appreciate the views of the San Francisco Bay that Ive’s new home offers.

Notoriously private, Ive probably isn’t ecstatic about journalists and bloggers speculating about his domestic life. But the Apple exec’s purchase is an important one, seeing as how it wasn’t too long ago that there were rumors that he was moving to the U.K. With today’s news, we can safely say that Ive doesn’t plan on going anywhere for quite a while.
