Samsung Digital Imaging is holding a global competition inviting 32 Instagram stars from 8 countries to prove that their city is the most photogenic! Samsung Digital Imaging and VICE Media Inc. have come together to celebrate the release of the all-new web connected GALAXY Camera. 32 Instagram stars from 8 countries will showcase the various features of the ground-breaking camera over an 8-week timeframe. Each week serves to highlight a different feature of the Galaxy Camera. All photography will be released through an interactive platform, allowing fans to vote for their favorite works at samsungcamera.tumblr.com.
VICE caught up with eight of the photographers to profile their approach in an 8-part video series providing a glimpse into the process of the world’s most prolific (and followed) Instagrammers. Here are three of the eight photographers:
Paris: Eros Sana – Eros Sana has a knack for forging out into the city and meeting new people, many of whom he loves to photograph. His captivating portraits have helped him gain more than 80,000 followers on Instagram. He loves the flavors, energy and life that Paris has to offer. In this video, he uses the camera’s night mode function that’s designed to let you capture the hours after dark. The Samsung Galaxy Camera lets you take photos that celebrate the city at night. When the sun goes down, the city’s beauty rises up.
Milan: Giacomo Por– Giacomo loves to capture the spirit of Milan in his portraits, revealing the honesty and reality of life through the composition of light and dark. In this segment, he uses the Samsung Galaxy Camera’s silhouette mode to create this process. The Samsung Galaxy Camera is designed to let you capture these high contrast images by bringing light out of the shadows.
Madrid: Juan Pacual– Juan’s passion for photography grew from capturing moments in life that Instagram has now allowed him to share with more than 10,000 followers. Through the GALAXY Camera’s Macro function, one can look closely at the city and see a new kind of beauty. In this segment we see Juan using the Macro mode that the GALAXY Camera has designed to let you capture close-ups in perfect detail. It magnifies the subject and creates bold, soft images.
