Netflix has managed to forge a deal with AMC to bring new episodes of hit series Breaking Bad to its streaming video service right after they air on TV — for U.K. subscribers, anyway.
This isn’t the first time Netflix has been able to grab fresh content for its international audience. The company made an agreement with AMC earlier this year to bring new episodes of season 3 of The Killing to the streaming service the day after they aired on television. And like that deal, only Netflix subscribers in the U.K. and Ireland will be able to watch this content. (Sorry, U.S. subscribers.) Usually, Netflix only has access to the last season of a program, with the current season exclusively playing on television or its home channel’s website.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the highly anticipated Final Season of Breaking Bad to Netflix members in the UK and Ireland on a first-run basis,” said Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in a statement. “Breaking Bad is a once in a generation calibre of show and continues to be a huge success on Netflix.”
Breaking Bad is about a high school science teacher, Walter White, who goes over the edge and decides to start producing crystal meth as a way to support himself and his family. It stars Emmy-award winners Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. The upcoming season will be the show’s last.
