Venture Capitalist firm Insight Venture Partners is taking a majority interest in cyber security purveyor FireMon, which has seen a massive 120 percent growth since Q1 of last year.

FireMon specializes in software packages that manage security systems and keep clients in compliance with privacy laws. In addition to traditional companies like Sony Music FireMon works with the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies.

Chairman Gary Fish and CEO Jody Brazil will continue to lead FireMon, though IVP’s Managing Director Mike Triplett and Principal Martin Angert will join the company’s board of directors. It’s unlikely that this will change FireMon’s overall operations.

FireMon spun off from FishNet Security in 2004 and has seen sustained growth over the last 10 years.
