Motorola's already-impressive budget smartphone is getting even more compelling.
The company's refreshed Moto G, announced just this morning, now comes with a 5-inch display (versus the original's 4.5-inch screen), stereo speakers, and a Micro SD card slot for expanded storage. But best of all, the phone is still just a mere $180 off-contract.
The Moto G was already a great deal when it was announced last year, so these upgrades make it an even stronger choice for budget consumers. The only problem? It doesn't support LTE 4G networks (Motorola released a special LTE version of the original Moto G a few months ago).
Still, for many international markets and prepaid plans, many consumers won't miss LTE in a phone this cheap.
The new Moto G keeps the same 1.2 gigahertz quad-core Qualcomm chip as its predecessor, as well as the same battery. That could lead to battery life issues down the line, as it takes a lot of juice to power bigger screens.
The phone will be available later today via Motorola's website, U.S. retailers, and in some international markets.
