A lot of software tools are trying to make the lives of salespeople easier. Today one of them — sales acceleration platform ToutApp — has successfully completed its own sales pitch to investors and scored $15 million.
The San Francisco-based company is “built with salespeople in mind,” founder and CEO Tawheed Kader told me via email. It offers real-time email and presentation tracking, smart templates for targeted but reusable sales messaging, the ability to offer marketing content, and analytics.
A salesperson can send out email from the platform and know when the email is opened by a prospect, he said, or can see which slide in a sales presentation is being viewed.
“The rep can decide that it’s a good time to call because the person is engaged,” Kader said, “and right from her Live Feed call the person with one click.”
“In a few clicks, she can choose a few open times on her calendar and slot them into her email automatically to suggest a meeting time. She can also pull in a proven email template that has pre-set messaging and content for this specific scenario or industry, and send that off to the prospect.”
The platform integrates with any CRM, but Kader noted that “the CRM simply holds static data [and] isn’t dynamic or actionable for sales reps [plus it doesn’t] give them context for the best next move” in interacting with the prospect. ToutApp also integrates with Gmail and Outlook.
The Series B funding “will be spent on sales, marketing, and R&D, with an emphasis on the latter,” Kader told us. He added that “the solution that we have today, though the most advanced in our category, is just the beginning,” so R&D is important.
With so many other tools out there to help salespeople — including InsideSales and Brainshark — it’s a wonder they ever get any work done. In fact, ToutApp says that most sales teams use 15 different tools, and that sales pros often say they spend too much time entering data.
Kader said most tools are point solutions for “one specific part or one specific stage of the sales process, but there are very few companies out there that truly enable the sales rep across the entire sales process.”
ToutApp is one of those companies, he said. He told us that it leads “the market in platform and feature innovation” and works with each client company to educate them as to “best practices [and] training.”
Current ToutApp customers include Atlassian, Dropbox, Jive, and Namely, and the company says it has over 90,000 salespeople using the platform.
The Series B round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from existing investors Sigma West, Founder Collective, 500 Startups, and the Launch Fund. The new funding brings the total raised by the company to $20 million since its founding in 2011.
