AT&T Mobility CEO Glenn Lurie said his company is unconcerned about Apple offering a competing phone financing program to iPhone buyers.
Lurie made the comment at the Code Mobile conference in Half Moon Bay, California.
Apple launched its iPhone Upgrade Program around the time of the new iPhone 6s launch. After signing a two-year financing agreement, customers get a new, unlocked iPhone each year (plus Apple Care) starting at a little over $32 a month.
"We don't have a lot of concerns about it," Lurie said. "I think they are trying to give their customers more options within their distribution system."
"And remember that they are just one of many distributors that we have," he added.
When Re/code's Ina Fried asked Lurie why he doesn't tweet more, the CEO saw the chance to lay a dig at T-Mobile CEO and tweet stormer John Legere:
"I don't think [being an avid tweeter is) a pre-requisite for being a good CEO in the mobile business," Lurie said.
