Oracle delivered a heaping scoop of updates for customers of its software-as-a-service (SaaS) products today, unveiling new features for its human capital management (HCM), customer experience (CX), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) suites aimed at supporting a wide variety of needs.

All of these updates are designed to help Oracle better compete in the rough-and-tumble SaaS market, where it faces challenges from Microsoft, Salesforce, Workday, and many others. SaaS has long been the crown jewel of Oracle’s cloud business, and an arena in which the company focused the lion’s share of its efforts early on.

ERP Cloud customers get features like updated procurement capabilities that make acquiring items on a company’s behalf similar to going shopping online. It can also automatically determine the creditworthiness of a company’s end-user customers and help businesses move to new accounting standards.

On the more human side of things, HCM Cloud customers will get a new recruiting service that’s designed to help them find the employees that they need. A new health and safety incident management feature helps companies comply with occupational health and safety standards, while an updated volunteering feature lets employees see and sign up for projects that their companies have organized.

The CX Cloud can now be used to personalize commerce for both business and consumer customers through A/B testing and other features. In addition, the system’s user experience has been updated so that it’s easier for users to access information from a wide variety of devices including smartphones.

All three services will also benefit from new adaptive intelligent apps that the company announced at OpenWorld today. They’re designed to provide intelligent capabilities based on machine learning and data that Oracle has collected from consumers through its Data Cloud product.
