For those of you who want a shiny new iPhone 5 but don't want to deal with the major wireless carriers, Leap Wireless just announced that it'll offer the device via Cricket beginning Sept. 28.

Cricket began adding Apple's older iPhone models back in June -- for $55 per month, you can get unlimited data, texting, and calling on the device (although the data isn't truly unlimited as you get throttled after using over 2.3GB). So it was inevitable that the iPhone 5 would come to the carrier as well.

Additionally, regional carrier C Spire announced that it would be providing service for the iPhone 5 on the same date. However, neither company has provided many other details beyond the availability dates.

It's probably worth noting that while you can go contract-free on the iPhone 5 through these carriers, you'll be sacrificing your data speeds. And with the iPhone 5's support for 4G LTE networks, it seems like a waste to go with a slow carrier.
