Slack today announced the availability of its team-communication app for the Windows operating system.

The well funded company announced the news in a blog post this morning.

Until this point, people running Windows could use Slack in the browser.

The news comes a little more than a year after launching with Mac, iOS, Android, and web apps. To get a feel for Slack’s capabilities, check out my post from this weekend, “10 things I love about Slack.” Competitors include Atlassian’s HipChat and VMware’s SocialCast.

Slack lets you launch its new app when you boot up Windows, and it prevents notifications from coming up during events like presentations, according to today’s blog post.

A beta version of Slack’s Windows app became available last month, but now the official, updated, non-beta version is ready for download.
