Tumblr's latest update could make searching for old posts a lot easier.
The blogging platform now allows users to filter archived blog posts by type, including text, photo, quote, link, chat, audio, and video. Previously users were only able to search by month.
The new feature came out of Tumblr's Hack Day, a biannual event where Tumblr staffers take 24 hours to create a new tool, function, or feature for the site.
"Introducing the ability to filter the Archives by post type seemed like an obvious next step in simplifying and enhancing the user experience," said Johnny Benson, product manager at Tumblr.
This is the latest in a string of feature updates from the blog site. At the end of January, the site rolled out an update aimed at writers. It included a way to write headlines and subheads, and better structure your long-form work.
Today's filtering app is just another way that Tumblr is refining its platform ahead of the "real crafty shit" the company is promising in the coming months.
