Reddit: the butt-ugly front page of the Internet. Much like other top web destinations (Craigslist, Wikipedia) and nerd hangouts (Hacker News, Slashdot), Reddit is a font of information with the interface of a nutrition information table on the side of a cracker box.

Fortunately for the aesthetically discriminating among us, Reeddit has just burst into the Internet’s collective consciousness. This simple, read-only client has three different elastic layouts, designed to work responsively on desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.

Moreover, you can create channels, where you can mash together up to three different subreddits for reading all the links in a single view.

The app works nicely on most modern browsers, and it’s been tested and passed on iOS devices and Android 4.X.

Here’s what it looks like:

Reeddit is a solo project from 25-year-old web developer Bernardo Baquero Stand. We love pointing out these solo side projects from time to time because a) they’re often pretty cool and/or cool-looking, b) they generally meet a need you nerd-people experience en masse, and c) they inspire us all to do more with our weekend than another marathon Call of Duty sesh.

On the project’s GitHub page, Stand listed off the tech he used to build Reeddit, including Zepto.js (“jQuery for modern browsers”), Tappable (“great ‘tap’ events handler”), Mustache.js (“client-side templating”), reziseend.js (“better ‘resize’ handler”), and a couple others, as well.

The source code is hanging out over at GitHub for your perusal, entertainment, and edification.

If you also interested in how these side projects can play out as career-enhancing and even money-making tools, stay tuned; we’ve got a great story coming up this afternoon you won’t want to miss about a cult app and its enigmatic creator.
