[This story originally ran on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007]LedEngin, a Santa Clara, Calif. company making components for cleaner and more efficient lighting technology called LEDs, has raised $11 million in a third round of financing.

The round was led by Partech International, and included previous investors WK Technology Fund, and private investor Keh-Shew Lu, chief executive of a chip maker called Diodes Inc.

We’ve written about a slew of LED makers trying to make the technology more energy efficient than fluorescents. LedEngin’s packaging technology seeks to make LEDs smaller and more reliable.

From the company’s statement:

LedEngin began first customer samples in Q1 2007. Today, more than 100 customers have sampled LedEngin products, and the company now has several products shipping in volume. All LedEngin products have passed stringent Wet Hot Temperature Operating Life (85C/85% WHTOL) tests. LedEngin’s small foot print, brightness level and robustness are combined to bring SSL solutions to a range of volume applications that value high brightness in a small form factor.
