Busuu.com
Busuu.com is a free online community offering interactive language courses in Spanish, French, German, Italian, English and Brazilian Portuguese (the latter was added today). Each course has 4 levels. Users can also look to other community members to help in learning a new language through web messaging and video chat.
The company recently announced a large partnership with PONS, a top European language learning publisher, according to the company's blog. The partnership will add PONS language dictionaries and guides to the Busuu.com site.
There are several companies offering free community-based online language courses, including Livemocha, which recently secured a second round funding of $8 million, and Yappr, which helps users learn English as a second language.
The Madrid-based company, founded in 2008, will also add the mysterious Austrian entrepreneur to its advisory board.
