Microsoft said today that it is buying “key product and technology assets” of Adxstudio, a company that sells web portals for Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM customer relationship management software.
The acquisition will have several implications, as Bob Stutz, corporate vice president for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, explained in a blog post today:
This acquisition … delivers pre-built engagement solutions including partner relationship management for organizations who sell through partner channels; technical support solutions for high tech and software development organizations; and online citizen engagement for public sector organizations. Each of these solutions will be available for all Microsoft Dynamics CRM customers and can be used both on-premises and in the cloud.
Finally, this acquisition will empower our own customers as well as our strong partner ecosystem as it will accelerate our efforts to enable customers and independent software vendors (ISVs) to build their own CRM Web engagement solutions on Microsoft technologies. These Adxstudio capabilities enable any business process to become Web-facing.
Microsoft announced a deeper partnership with major CRM provider Salesforce at the latter’s Dreamforce conference earlier this month. But Salesforce has recently redesigned its core Sales Cloud and added intelligence to it as a result of the RelateIQ acquisition. Now Microsoft is looking to bolster its own CRM offering through the Adxstudio deal.
Other recent Microsoft acquisitions related to Dynamics CRM include FantasySalesTeam and FieldOne.

Adxstudio started in 1998, with more than 50 employees and offices in Saskatchewan, Canada, and Redmond, Washington.
In a separate blog post, Microsoft today also announced that it has acquired Sensei Task Master, Sensei Project Dashboard, and Sensei Portfolio Dashboard apps from Sensei Project Solutions, as well as the Project Financials and Project Snapshot add-ins for Microsoft Project Online from Projectum ApS.
