Cell Biosciences, maker of software and other tools used to determine how cells move and interact, has acquired Protein Forest, which also makes software and instruments to concentrate proteins for deeper analysis. The deal will add the latter company's product portfolio to Cell Biosci's. Based in Palo Alto, Cell Biosci is backed by Domain Associates, Latterell Venture Partners, Mitsui & Co., Novo A/S, Posco BioVentures, the Royal Bank of Canada, Vertical Group and Wellcome Trust. Protein Forest, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., previously raised about $20.7 million in equity from Boston Meillennia partners, Flybridge Capital Partners, Novo A/S, PureTech Ventures and S.R. One.
