Social Times and I are throwing a cocktail networking event tomorrow evening (Thurs, May 28) for local entrepreneurs at the Hudson Restaurant and Lounge in Washington D.C. Register here.

We're starting at 5:30 sharp and going until 8pm. The first 30 in the door get a free drink, so be there early. Some of us will then head over to TwinTech, another event which starts a bit later, and focuses on linking the technology and policy crowd.

The occasion is two-fold: First, it's my first business visit to Washington on behalf of VentureBeat, and I'm constantly on the prowl to meet great entrepreneurs. Second, as co-Executive Producer of DEMO, the leading conference for emerging technology product launches, I'm looking to meet entrepreneurs interested in launching cool products there at in September.

I've long respected Nick, of the Social Times and AllFacebook. He's doing a great job here in DC connecting the social media crowd, so we've teamed up as co-hosts (he's posted here).

Directions are here.

Don't forget to register.

This is a casual event. No speeches. But if you come find me, I can tell you about what's new at DEMO, including the additions we're making to the format, such as the "Alpha Pitch" session, where early stage companies are now also able to present their early ideas to DEMO's high-quality audience of media, high-tech executives and investors. They'll do that alongside the great group of companies that launch there year after year, but with products fully ready for the market.

Aside from that, I'm looking for great DC stories about technology innovation and business that we can write about at VentureBeat. Hope to see you there!
