Energy and resource tracking company eMeter has raised $12.5 million in its fifth round of venture funding, almost mirroring a funding for $500,000 less completed this time last year. The company makes software that tracks the meters of millions of customers, whether they're using electricity, gas, or water. The information is reported back to utilities, who can use it toward their smart grid initiatives. Siemens Corp. led the funding, and was joined by Foundation Capital and DBL Investors. According to a regulatory filing acquired by VentureBeat, Banner Partners and the Cree and Jennifer Edwards Family Trust also participated.
