Playing on the fun nostalgia of VH1 throw-back shows like "I Love the 80s," GetBack Media has launched a website aggregating different types of pop-culture content dating back to the 1960s. It also recently brought in $1.7 million in first-round funding to expand its library, which already has thousands of hours of audio and video content.

Some of the gems in its collection include long-lost Madonna and Bruce Springsteen videos, tributes to games like Donkey Kong Classic and Missile Command, and a review of the worst fashion fads in history -- including a video of former-beauty queen and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin strutting the pageant stage in a classy one-piece swimsuit.

In addition to original content and snarky articles recapping the past, Los Angeles-based GetBack also produces the "Retro Minute," a compilation clip distributed every day through MSN Video, Hulu and PlumptopTV. It attracted more than 17 million page views last month, the company says.

Getback, which targets Internet users ages 35 and up, will use the new funds to continue developing its site (which still looks and feels a little rudimentary), and form more licensing partnerships. It has already forged deals with Getty Images, Universal Music, Macrovision, Intellivision and others, giving it rights to vast archives of material. So far, it brings in money through online advertising and syndication deals.
