Optical networking equipment developer NeoPhotonics Inc., of San Jose, is continuing a recent buying spree with the acquisition of BeamExpress Inc, its third acquisition in as many months.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based BeamExpress develops transceiver modules for high speed networks. The company, founded in 2001, was backed by as much as $30 million in funding from investors including Index Ventures, Oak Investment Partners, Atila Ventures and European Technology Ventures. BeamExpress investors Oak Investment Partners did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Of note is that Oak is also an investor Neophotonics, which has raised more than $100M in funding from Oak and other venture firms, including DFJ, International Finance Corp, and Shanghai Industrial Holdings. Neophotonics recently raised $75 million, and in June acquired LightConnect and OpTun. (Source: VentureWire).
