Today marks the start of the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) taking place in Copenhagen from Dec. 7 to 18. For those that can't attend, but feel compelled to help the environment, Swedish company Treehoo has an interesting opportunity for you -- help to plant trees and fight global warming with every email you send.

Treehoo recently launched what it describes as the first green and eco-friendly search engine with 50 percent of advertising profits going to plant trees worldwide.  Now, the company is extending the opportunity to plant trees through a new email service. Like the search engine, half the profit the company makes from advertising will be invested to plant trees.  The idea is that by planting more trees it reduces the amount of carbon and fights global warming.

The company estimates that for every 20 emails sent, one tree could be planted. The 60 emails I sent today would have planted three trees. With the hundred of millions of emails sent everyday, the potential impact for the environment is enormous.

I signed up for the email service and the platform is pretty basic. Reminds me a lot of the old-school Outlook from back in the day. You can sign up yourself here. Whether you sign up or not, I'd love to hear from you. Shoot me an email at Cody.Barbierri@treehoo.com and let's start planting some trees!
