Gary Stein points us to an AP story that says Google is buying 30 acres of industrial-zoned land in The Dalles, Oregon, “in a deal that is expected to bring up to 100 new jobs to the Wasco County community.” No comment from Google on what they’re up to, “citing concerns over industry confidentiality.” But The Dalles easily trumps The Valley when it comes to affordability. Google has engineering centers around the U.S., including New York, Santa Monica and, most recently, the backyard of that software giant near Seattle.
