Packet8, the Silicon Valley (Santa Clara) VoIP company, accidentally revealed the email addresses of nearly 21,000 customers, Om reports.

Naturally, we checked the blog of the company’s CEO, Bryan Martin, but we didn’t see anything about it there. (However, he does have some very interesting photos and examples about post-Katrina, and how people are using Packet8 there.)


An employee attached a spreadsheet containing customer email addresses along with its monthly email newsletter. Packet 8’s director of corporate communications Joan Citelli said, “It was a one time fluke. I don’t expect it to happen again.” Right..okay! But these are the kind of snafus which make customers fleeing. I wonder what customers think about this – if I was one, I won’t be too happy with everyone with my information
