TutorVista, the Bangalore, India company that screens Indian tutors and then offers their services online to Americans and Brits, has raised $3 million more from Sequoia Capital India, according to The Economic Times. Earlier this year, TutorVista raised $2 million from Sequoia.
Update on 12/28:
TutorVista has since raised $7.75 more, bringing the total second round to $10.75, according to VentureWire.
Lightspeed Venture Partners contributed $7 million to the round, and Sequoia contributed $750,000 more to the round than originally reported.
The company says it has 250 tutors, up from 50 in June, and now serves 2,000 students in the U.S., compared 400 students in the U.S. and U.K. combined six months ago.
