House Speaker Nancy Pelosi apparently has a warm spot in her heart for two San Francisco life-science companies.

Thanks to Rep. Pelosi., biotech companies Prosetta, which is focused on new antiviral drugs, and Bioquiddity (no link; it is keeping low profile), a developer of drug-infusion devices, are both slated to receive millions of dollars in "earmarked" federal funds from a defense-spending bill.

See David Hamilton's story at VentureBeat Life Sciences. Hamilton digs into the weeds, and unearths some interesting tidbits about the two companies. Prosetta is said by some to be developing a “novel biowarfare agent," but Hamilton suggests otherwise.
