Software maker JackBe has nabbed $5 million in a fourth round of funding for mashup apps tailored to business organizations. The round included Blue Chip Venutre Co., Core Capital Partners, Darby Technology Ventures, Harbert Venture Partners and Intel Capital.
According to the Chevy Chase, Md.-based company, its software allows businesses to seamlessly integrate internal and external data into clear, digestible formats (regardless of firewall protections) -- a task that typically took months when executed through their regular information technology channels. The new money will be used to expand sales operations.
JackBe last raised funds in 2007 when it pulled in $9.5 million from Core and Harbert. In tandem with the new round, the company announced the appointment of Wayne Jackson as chairman of its board. He served previously as the chief executive at Sourcefire.
