Socializr, a service that lets you organize your events online, has just released a cool new set of features that let you more easily see what events your friends are going to, and then track and manage the photos of these events.
Called “Socializr Event Connect,” it also lets you more easily integrate all your event invitations in one place (whether those events reside on Socializr, or on Facebook or elsewhere.) Lots of old fogies are still using popular event service Evite to organize their events. Others are increasingly using Facebook. However, these services provide no easy way to peer into the events specific friends are attending.
Facebook shows you a stream of all the events your friends are going to, but it doesn’t easily let you sort by friend. Facebook essentially gives you a huge flood of updates, and has few filtering tools. Basically, Socializr changes that by giving you a powerful dashboard to track everything closely and precisely from one place. So if a friend on Facebook goes to an event and posts pictures at Flickr, you can pull that information to your Socializr dashboard. It also gives you an easy way to invite guests to events from Facebook and other sites such as MySpace.
Those other friends don’t have to be members of Socializr in order to respond. They simply click on an RSVP button within their account at Facebook. You can invite them by email, or if you don’t have their email, you can invite them anyway because Socializr lets you log in to Facebook via Facebook connect, and so it knows your friends. Socializr also supports Evite, Upcoming, Google Calendar and Meetup. A slide show featuring the new products is here.
The move was crucial for Socializr, if it is to stay relevant. It will soon make all these services bidirectional, so that you can also rest within your Facebook account and perform all these tasks with Socializr, not just do it from Socializr. The tools are extensive. It gives you a way to slice and dice depending on your tastes. You can choose to see all your Facebook events, even those you’ve decided not to attend, while seeing only seeing MySpace events that you’ve said “yes” to.
You can choose to see only those events that are happening within then next say, seven days, and only those events where at least four friends are going. You can click on a friend profile, and see all the events they’re going to. You can import photos from these events from any site (Flickr, Picasa, etc), and then tag them.
