In a deal in the network-infrastructure management market, Infoblox has acquired Netcordia for an undisclosed price.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Infoblox provides real-time network infrastructure hardware to handle tasks such as processing internet addresses, while Annapolis, Md.-based Netcordia handles network change and configuration management software.

The combined companies will help corporations automate the network functions and meeting security compliance mandates. The goal is to reduce operating expenses and preparing corporations for broad adoption of virtualization and cloud computing in the enterprise. The aim is also to simplify management for data center managers.

Infoblox was founded in 1999 and has 330 employees. Its hardware is used in 3,860 companies and agencies and it is operating in 30 countries. Netcordia was founded in 2000 and has 60 employees. It raised $18.5 million in venture capital from Novak Biddle Venture Partners, Gold Hill Ventures, and Trinity Ventures. Infoblox says it has more than $100 million in annual revenue and is generating significant cash.
