Netchemia has acquired online recruiting and application management provider SchoolSpring as part of the company’s efforts to transform the way teachers in the United States get hired and evaluated.

The acquisition adds to Netchemia’s portfolio of cloud-based talent management software, which includes recruiting, performance evaluation, and record-keeping solutions, all available in its flagship product TalentEd Suite, while also increasing Netchemia’s staff. All 20 SchoolSpring employees will be joining Netchemia.

“From a product standpoint, SchoolSpring’s popular, established education job board will bring great value to Netchemia’s customers while our TalentEd suite of products will help expand services for SchoolSpring’s customers,” said Netchemia chief executive Carlos Antequera via email.

The acquisition gives Netchemia access to the more than 600 K-12 institutions that currently use SchoolSpring’s products, including its application tracking software and popular job board, which has seen more than 140,000 jobs posted and 3.4 million applications submitted since 2000.

Netchemia made the news last May when it received $6.5 million in private equity investment from Mainsail Partners. Since that time, the startup has seen its customer base grow from 1,100 to more than 2,000.

Post SchoolSpring acquisition, Netchemia can now claim customers in every state. Rather than expand internationally, the company plans to target more and more U.S. customers.

“Our focus continues to be in the United States, where the promise of K-12 talent management is still in its early stages. There is a lot more we can do in our own backyard,” said Antequera.
