The demand-side ad buy platform MediaMath today announced its acquisition of Spree7, a programmatic implementation firm based in Berlin, Germany.

This acquisition gives MediaMath an entree into programmatic markets in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The Spree7 office becomes MediaMath’s 16th office.

The history: Spree7 was founded in 2012 by PubliGroupe and MediaMath to address the growing demand for programmatic ad buying in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2014 Swisscom acquired PubliGroupe.

Spree7’s existing clients include Swisscom group companies, and will continue serving as a white-label programmatic trading desk for independent media agencies in the region.

For MediaMath, the Spree7 buy has a lot to do with servicing an increasingly global customer base.

“Increasingly, multinational brands demand their ad tech vendors and partners have parallel reach and scale,” said Dave Reed, MediaMath’s managing director for the region.

“We have already worked extensively with Spree7, and we highly value their local market knowledge and programmatic expertise,” Reed said. “We are also excited to build on our close partnership with Swisscom.”
