Microsoft today announced that its GigJam app for working with someone else on certain workflows, like sending an email or entering a record in customer relationship management software, is now available in preview for anyone to try — you no longer need to have an invitation if you want to use it.
The app lets you pull up files stored on your device, or access files from cloud services such as Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box. From there you can circle what you want to collaborate on with someone else, cross out what you don’t want the other person to see, and share. The other person will need the app in order to work with you.
Thousands of customers have already tried the service since the invitation preview began last month, Vijay Mital, general manager of Microsoft’s Ambient Computing team, wrote in a blog post. Later this year the software will become generally available as part of Office 365, along with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and other applications, Mital wrote.
The GigJam app is now available on iOS, not just Windows and OS X.
